Panel Discussion
Achieving the SDGs is a vector of regional development in new conditions: a responsible approach for the sake of future generations

An important direction in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda (SDG) and ESG transformation in Russia is the promotion of the agenda at the regional and local levels. The section will present the best examples of ESG transformation of regions and the experience of Russian cities, as well as successful practices in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda by Russian companies. Russia has committed to become carbon neutral by 2060. As part of these commitments, a system of tools is being developed to stimulate private investment in projects that create positive environmental and social effects, including tax incentives, subsidies and state guarantees for enterprises and investors. In 2022, a serious change in the socio-economic and political situation in the world led to a change in the focus of the activities of both authorities and large businesses, determined the need to make adjustments to development plans, building supply chains and relationships with investors. The agenda of the state and business includes maintaining the uninterrupted activity of enterprises and organizations, reducing the risk of socio-economic destabilization, restoring missing links in production chains through import substitution based on national infrastructure. An infrastructure for investment in sustainable development is being formed, and a regulatory framework has been created for launching green projects. By the end of the year, the Government of the Russian Federation should consider the issue of determining the criteria for classifying investment projects as projects that meet the requirements of the concept of environmental, social and corporate responsibility (ESG), as well as providing state support measures to participants in such projects.
