In the context of today’s challenges and restrictions, improving efficiency of strategic management from public authorities is the decisive means to ensure long-term sustainable development of Russia.
The success of the management decisions to be developed depends on different views on the spatial development of the country: government, business, scientific and expert communities.
Basically, the goals and objectives of spatial development are formulated at the federal level, which largely limits the regions in finding their own development guidelines. And here arises the question of the possibility of more active participation of regions in the development of strategic documents at the federal level. This will allow the regions, on the one hand, to determine their role within the framework of global development projects of the country, and on the other, to more effectively resolve the issues related to the implementation of internal strategic projects.
