On 3-10 May 2021, the Game of Goals: Online International Sustainable Transport Championship was held as part of the Fifth High-level Meeting on Transport, Health and Environment (THE PEP).
Participants from 7 cities (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Irkutsk, Pskov, Rostov-on-Don, Perm) were divided into 3 teams (composed of transportation experts, ecologists, economists, urbanists and architects) and, together with mentors, had been developing solutions, contributing to promotion of sustainable low-carbon transport and mobility.
The teams reached the online championship final with the following projects:
Innovation has clashed with sustainable tourism. At the stage of final voting, mentors and experts chose the e-bike route in the name of preserving the Baikal ecosystem, and the BAIKal routers team, therefore, became the winner of the Game of Goals: Online International Sustainable Transport Championship. The preservation and sustainable development of Lake Baikal, which contains about 20% of the world’s fresh lake water reserves and over 80% of Russia’s reserves, is a global problem of humanity.
The winning project will be presented at the GAME OF GOALS to be held as part of the Strategic Planning Leaders Forum Youth Platform in October 2021.
Organizers: Green Mobility International Partnership Initiative, ICSER Leontief Centre, JSC “Scientific and Research Institute of Motor Transport” as part of the Fifth High-level Meeting on Transport, Health and Environment (THE PEP).
